Interim Partial

A transitional, removable partial denture is used when one or more natural teeth still remain in the upper or lower jaw. A "flipper " is worn during a transitional period, usually the transition from wearing an Removable Partial Denture to wearing a complete denture.

Often the existing teeth are in such poor shape that you expect the transition period will be short and hesitate to put time and money into dental heroics. Interim partials are made of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, and are used until a permanent solution can be decided upon.
